Russian presidential representative in the ecology field proposed to introduce environmental charge for plastic bags and also to prohibit POS of giving away plastic bags for free. Experts believe that this step will lead to engravement of trade companies’ financial problems and then consumers. The real essential step would be development of biodegradable plastic manufacturing - the way chosen by European countries. Another possibility is to promote idea of reusable shopping-bags. It seems to be quite reasonable to introduce European experience: European Union plan to reduce plastic packaging usage by 80% during the following 15 years.
